Williams, Hargitay Hospitalized
Emmy winner Mariska Hargitay is in the hospital, The Associated Press reports. The star of NBC's "Law & Order: Special Victim's Unit" was hospitalized yesterday after feeling discomfort from a partially collapsed lung. She is undergoing tests. Hargitay has been ailing since at least mid-January, when producers announced she had a partially collapsed lung. Her spokeswoman, Leslie Sloane, said the actress "expects to be feeling better soon" and that production of the show will not be affected.
She is a talented, talented actress, who gives compelling and dramatic performances, one of my personal favorites. Many people do not know of her background. She is the daughter of Jayne Mansfield, an actress and 1950s-era sex symbol, and Hungarian-born former Mr. Universe, Mickey Hargitay. I will never forget the day Jayne Mansfield was killed in an automobile wreck in 1967. My dad was devastated by it; he loved Jayne Mansfield. I will always remember him telling me how lucky it was that her three year old daughter in the back seat survived the car crash. That daughter is Mariska.
WILLIAMS CANCELS SHOWS
Robin Williams cancelled several performances of his one-man comedy show, "Weapons of Self-Destruction," after recently experiencing shortness of breath, and is now recovering in a Miami hospital, with some heart issues.. The comedian says in a news release that doctors are evaluating him and have recommended a week of rest.
In the Broward County Courthouse cafeteria yesterday, there must have been a half dozen lawyers moaning about how they had tickets and were looking forward to his performances this week at the Hard Rock. He is special, like there is no filter between his mouth and his mind. Great comedian, wonderful actor, decent man. I have just posted a you tube rendition of one of his performances on the side of the blog.
