Python Invasion Threatens Civilization as We Know It

It has been a Blog Free Weekend with the art fairs, baseball games, and pride festivals, but lucky I have not been in the Glades airboating or facing off the worst epidemic in the history of the world since the Bubonic Plague, according to Jon Stewart, who lampoons Miami TV for warning us of the Invasion of the Pythons. Maybe it is the new name for the Florida Marlins...

Well here is a light way to get your week started...and credits to the South Florida Daily Blog for first picking up this latest Jon Stewart favorite.

Jon Stewart Grabs Sandra Dee, I mean Day

Your new neighborhood blogger is a big Jon Stewart fan, and prefers his late nite humor over well, anyone else's. But we were fast asleep pretty early last nite as we prepped for a drug trafficking trial with Judge Jeffrey Levenson, who was wasting no time, getting ready to pick our jury while another one on a murder case was still deliberating. Anyway, I missed an interview with Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, but found it here this afternoon on the Daily Show’s Web site.

Can't figure out why Stewart had her on, but read enough about it in the new poorly designed Wall Street Journal blog to catch up on it, and it is worth your time and effort.

The Justice appeared on the show largely to talk about her new project, called Our Courts, described on its Web site as:

a free, interactive, web-based program designed to teach students civics and inspire them to be active participants in our democracy. Our Courts is the vision of Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, who is concerned that students are not getting the information and tools they need for civic participation, and that civics teachers need better materials and support.

The point of the site, as O’Connor describes, is to teach children about the court system — a topic about which, statistics reportedly show — they know very little. So kids take after judges, then ??? :-)
